What to wear in Antarctica

We love seeing the excitement on peoples faces when we ask where they’re going and it’s that time of year when we hear ‘Destination: Antarctica’. What a fantastic experience to see snow and glaciers in their purest form. But taking the trip of a lifetime requires the right gear. We’ve got you covered to brace the cold of the South Pole from gloves, to thermals, to outerwear.

With our years of Alpine experience, we know you want to be warm, dry and comfortable in any gear you choose. We’re hear to help and recommend your outerwear is at least 15K/15K (warmth/breathability), gloves are made with Gore-Tex or a brand equivalent, and your thermals and socks are the correct thickness. Layering is a factor to think about too, it’s important for you to be able to regulate your body temperature for any conditions; inside or out. We recommend getting base and mid layers to achieve this.

We’ve put together a checklist for some items you might need for your trip to Antarctica: Gloves, under gloves, socks, base layer, mid layer, snow jacket, snow pants, neck warmer, beanies, sunglasses. You can shop all of these on our website here.

Get ready for some beautiful scenery and wildlife in their natural habitats with the right gear! If you have any questions, we’re more than happy to answer them. Come instore and see us for all your South Pole needs!
